News & Events: Latest News Nov 16

Wednesday 9th November 2016 |

It's been a while since I last updated my news page, so here goes. I had a stand at the British Bird Fair again this last August and it was, as usual, an exciting few days. Lots of people visited my exhibit and I made some useful sales and made new contacts. Most of my exhibits were large canvases, up to 90x60cms of Albatross, Shorebirds and Wildfowl. I am definately looking forward to returning next August and I am already looking at what new images I will get printed.

I have a big trip planned to the Antarctic this January 2017 which I am hoping will produce more dramatic images , I am very excited about the opportunities for photographing Wandering Albatross and the huge colonies of King Penguins.  We are visiting the Antarctic Peninsula, Elephant Island (weather permitting) and South Georgia on an 18 day trip. After finishing the expedition in Port Stanley in the Falklands we will spend a week there where I hope  to see many new species of wildfowl to add to my portfolio. Three days will be spent on Saunders Island in the West Falklands where there are impressive colonies of Black Browed Albatross and Gentoo Penguins.

The rest of the winter will be spent photographing wildfowl here in North Wales, we have good populations of Brent Geese, Pintail and Widgeon which have arrived recently from their breeding grounds in the North.  In mid March I will be going to Islay in the Hebrides to photograph Barnacle and Greenland Whitefronted Geese; this  has become an annual event and one that I always look forward to. We stay in a little cottage right on the lochside where thousands of geese fly in to roost at night.... idylic.

My next job is to get new pictures on to this site which I haven't done for some time!  so check out the 'Latest Images' in the Gallery over the next few weeks.
